The protein encoded by this gene is a serine/threonine kinase that may be involved in the regulation of chromatin assembly. The encoded protein is only active when it is phosphorylated, and this phosphorylation is cell cycle-dependent, with the maximal activity of this protein coming during S phase. The catalytic activity of this protein is diminished by DNA damage and by blockage of DNA replication. Three transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Nov 2011]
Gene Symbol : TLK1
Gene Name : Tousled like kinase 1
Chromosome : CHR 2: 171,231,313-170,990,822
Locus : 2q31.1
Voltage-gated potassium (Kv) channels represent the most complex class of voltage-gated ion channels from both functional and structural standpoints. Their diverse functions include regulating neurotransmitter release, heart rate, insulin secretion, neuronal excitability, epithelial electrolyte transport, smooth muscle contraction, and cell volume. This gene encodes a member of the potassium channel, voltage-gated, subfamily H. This member is a pore-forming (alpha) subunit. There are at least two alternatively spliced transcript variants derived from this gene and encoding distinct isoforms. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Gene Symbol : KCNH7
Gene Name : Potassium voltage-gated channel subfamily H member 7
Chromosome : CHR 2: 162,838,746-162,371,406
Locus : 2q24.2
