The protein encoded by this gene interacts with the Von Hippel-Lindau protein to form an intracellular complex. The encoded protein functions as a chaperone protein, and may play a role in the transport of the Von Hippel-Lindau protein from the perinuclear granules to the nucleus or cytoplasm. Alternative splicing and the use of alternate transcription start sites results in multiple transcript variants encoding different protein isoforms. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2015]
Gene Symbol : VBP1
Gene Name : VHL binding protein 1
Chromosome : CHR X: 155,197,006-155,239,840
Locus : Xq28
This gene encodes the protein trimethyllysine dioxygenase which is the first enzyme in the carnitine biosynthesis pathway. Carnitine play an essential role in the transport of activated fatty acids across the inner mitochondrial membrane. The encoded protein converts trimethyllysine into hydroxytrimethyllysine. A pseudogene of this gene is found on chromosome X. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants.[provided by RefSeq, May 2010]
Gene Symbol : TMLHE
Gene Name : Trimethyllysine hydroxylase, epsilon
Chromosome : CHR X: 155,612,960-155,489,006
Locus : Xq28
