This gene encodes a protein with an N-terminal pleckstrin homology domain and a C-terminal coiled-coil region. The protein interacts with trio, which is involved with neural tissue development and controlling actin cytoskeleton organization, cell motility and cell growth. The protein also associates with F-actin and stabilizes F-actin structures. Mutations in this gene have been associated with a form of autosomal recessive nonsyndromic deafness. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants that would encode different isoforms have been found for this gene, however some transcripts may be subject to nonsense-mediated decay (NMD). [provided by RefSeq, Nov 2008]
Gene Symbol : TRIOBP
Gene Name : TRIO and F-actin binding protein
Chromosome : CHR 22: 376,969,87-377,765,55
Locus : 22q13.1
This gene encodes a nuclear protein that contains a breast cancer associated gene 1 (BRCA1) C-terminal interaction domain. The encoded protein interacts with BOP1 and WDR12 to form the PeBoW complex, which plays a critical role in cell proliferation via pre-rRNA processing and 60S ribosomal subunit maturation. Expression of this gene may play an important role in breast cancer proliferation and tumorigenicity. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding multiple isoforms have been observed for this gene. Pseudogenes of this gene are located on the long arm of chromosome 4 and the short arm of chromosome 9. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2011]
Gene Symbol : PES1
Gene Name : Pescadillo ribosomal biogenesis factor 1
Chromosome : CHR 22: 306,070,12-305,766,24
