The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the kinesin family and functions as an anterograde motor protein that transports membranous organelles along axonal microtubules. Mutations at this locus have been associated with spastic paraplegia-30 and hereditary sensory neuropathy IIC. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been described. [provided by RefSeq, Apr 2012]
Gene Symbol : KIF1A
Gene Name : Kinesin family member 1A
Chromosome : CHR 2: 240,821,024-240,713,763
Locus : 2q37.3
The protein encoded by this gene is an E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase involved in the degradation of the p19ARF/ARF isoform of CDKN2A, a tumor suppressor. The encoded protein also plays a role in the DNA damage response by regulating the stability of USP7, which regulates tumor suppressor p53. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2017]
Gene Symbol : TRIP12
Gene Name : Thyroid hormone receptor interactor 12
Chromosome : CHR 2: 229,923,233-229,763,836
Locus : 2q36.3
