This gene encodes a protein that belongs to the glutamate-gated ionic channel family. Glutamate functions as the major excitatory neurotransmitter in the central nervous system through activation of ligand-gated ion channels and G protein-coupled membrane receptors. The protein encoded by this gene forms functional heteromeric kainate-preferring ionic channels with the subunits encoded by related gene family members. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2013]
Gene Symbol : GRIK4
Gene Name : Glutamate ionotropic receptor kainate type subunit 4
Chromosome : CHR 11: 120,511,745-120,988,804
Locus : 11q23.3
This gene encodes a protein that contains a ubiquitin associated domain at the N-terminus, an SH3 domain, and a C-terminal domain with similarities to the catalytic motif of phosphoglycerate mutase. The encoded protein was found to inhibit endocytosis of epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) and platelet-derived growth factor receptor. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Gene Symbol : UBASH3B
Gene Name : Ubiquitin associated and SH3 domain containing B
Chromosome : CHR 11: 122,655,689-122,814,478
Locus : 11q24.1
