The modification of proteins with ubiquitin is an important cellular mechanism for targeting abnormal or short-lived proteins for degradation. Ubiquitination involves at least three classes of enzymes: ubiquitin-activating enzymes, or E1s, ubiquitin-conjugating enzymes, or E2s, and ubiquitin-protein ligases, or E3s. This gene encodes a member of the E2 ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme family. Three alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been found for this gene. Gene Symbol : UBE2E1
Gene Name : Ubiquitin conjugating enzyme E2 E1
Chromosome : CHR 3: 238,058,92-238,916,39
Locus : 3p24.2
RAB14 belongs to the large RAB family of low molecular mass GTPases that are involved in intracellular membrane trafficking. These proteins act as molecular switches that flip between an inactive GDP-bound state and an active GTP-bound state in which they recruit downstream effector proteins onto membranes (Junutula et al., 2004 [PubMed 15004230]).[supplied by OMIM, Mar 2009]
Gene Symbol : RAB14
Gene Name : RAB14, member RAS oncogene family
Chromosome : CHR 9: 121,202,086-121,178,136
Locus : 9q33.2
