Dihydropyrimidinase catalyzes the conversion of 5,6-dihydrouracil to 3-ureidopropionate in pyrimidine metabolism. Dihydropyrimidinase is expressed at a high level in liver and kidney as a major 2.5-kb transcript and a minor 3.8-kb transcript. Defects in the DPYS gene are linked to dihydropyrimidinuria. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Gene Symbol : DPYS
Gene Name : Dihydropyrimidinase
Chromosome : CHR 8: 104,467,074-104,379,423
Locus : 8q22.3
This gene encodes a potential transmembrane protein that may function in vesicle-mediated transport and sorting of proteins within the cell. This protein may play a role in the development and the function of the eye, hematological system, and central nervous system. Mutations in this gene have been associated with Cohen syndrome. Multiple splice variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Gene Symbol : VPS13B
Gene Name : Vacuolar protein sorting 13 homolog B
Chromosome : CHR 8: 990,070,13-998,775,85
Locus : 8q22.2
