This gene encodes a member of the WD repeat protein family. WD repeats are minimally conserved regions of approximately 40 amino acids typically bracketed by gly-his and trp-asp (GH-WD), which may facilitate formation of heterotrimeric or multiprotein complexes. The encoded protein interacts with serine/threonine kinase 11, and is implicated in cell growth arrest. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms. [provided by RefSeq, Feb 2016]
Gene Symbol : WDR6
Gene Name : WD repeat domain 6
Chromosome : CHR 3: 490,070,61-490,159,52
Locus : 3p21.31
Calcium-dependent membrane-binding proteins may regulate molecular events at the interface of the cell membrane and cytoplasm. This gene is one of several genes that encode a calcium-dependent protein containing two N-terminal type II C2 domains and an integrin A domain-like sequence in the C-terminus. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Gene Symbol : CPNE8
Gene Name : Copine 8
Chromosome : CHR 12: 389,085,92-386,521,99
Locus : 12q12
