This gene encodes a member of the peptidase M48A family. The encoded protein is a zinc metalloproteinase involved in the two step post-translational proteolytic cleavage of carboxy terminal residues of farnesylated prelamin A to form mature lamin A. Mutations in this gene have been associated with mandibuloacral dysplasia and restrictive dermopathy. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Gene Symbol : ZMPSTE24
Gene Name : Zinc metallopeptidase STE24
Chromosome : CHR 1: 402,580,49-402,941,83
Locus : 1p34.2
This gene encodes a zinc finger-containing transcription factor that acts as a key regulator of lineage commitment of immature T-cell precursors. It is necessary and sufficient for commitment of CD4 lineage, while its absence causes CD8 commitment. It also functions as a transcriptional repressor of type I collagen genes. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2012]
Gene Symbol : ZBTB7B
Gene Name : Zinc finger and BTB domain containing 7B
Chromosome : CHR 1: 155,002,627-155,018,524
Locus : 1q21.3
