This gene represents naturally-occurring RNAs transcribed in antisense to CDR1 (cerebellar degeneration-related protein 1, 34kDa; GeneID:1038), some of which may be circular rather than linear. Antisense circular RNAs bind microRNAs such as miR-7, acting as a sponge for these molecules and preventing them from interacting with target transcripts. The circular RNA produced by this locus is down-regulated by miR-671, which also decreases levels of the CDR1 transcript. No RefSeq transcript is created for the circular RNA.
