This gene encodes a multi-domain protein that is predominantly expressed in brain and testis. This protein interacts with amyloid beta protein precursor (AbetaPP) and may have a role in normal brain development, and in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease. Expression of this gene has been shown to be elevated in patients with pre-B cell acute lymphocytic leukemia associated with t(1;19) translocation. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms (some with different subcellular localization, PMID:15004329) have been described for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2011]
Gene Symbol : ANKS1B
Gene Name : Ankyrin repeat and sterile alpha motif domain containing 1B
Chromosome : CHR 12: 999,847,26-987,299,03
Locus : 12q23.1
This locus encodes a member of the type III receptor-like protein-tyrosine phosphatase family. The encoded protein catalyzes the dephosphorylation of phosphotyrosine and phosphatidylinositol and plays roles in cellular proliferation and differentiation. Mutations at this locus have been linked to autosomal recessive deafness. [provided by RefSeq, Mar 2014]
Gene Symbol : PTPRQ
Gene Name : Protein tyrosine phosphatase, receptor type Q
Chromosome : CHR 12: 804,242,60-806,802,72
Locus : 12q21.31
