Diacylglycerol kinases (DGKs) are regulators of the intracellular concentration of the second messenger diacylglycerol (DAG) and thus play a key role in cellular processes. Nine mammalian isotypes have been identified, which are encoded by separate genes. Mammalian DGK isozymes contain a conserved catalytic (kinase) domain and a cysteine-rich domain (CRD). The protein encoded by this gene is a diacylglycerol kinase, beta isotype. Several alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. Gene Symbol : DGKB
Gene Name : Diacylglycerol kinase beta
Chromosome : CHR 7: 149,747,76-141,450,48
Locus : 7p21.2
This gene encodes an actin-binding protein that plays a role in cell growth and migration, and in cytokinesis. The encoded protein is thought to regulate actin cytoskeletal dynamics in podocytes, components of the glomerulus. Mutations in this gene are associated with focal segmental glomerulosclerosis 8. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2014]
Gene Symbol : ANLN
Gene Name : Anillin actin binding protein
Chromosome : CHR 7: 363,898,02-364,537,90
Locus : 7p14.2
