This gene encodes a receptor for vasoactive intestinal peptide, a small neuropeptide. Vasoactive intestinal peptide is involved in smooth muscle relaxation, exocrine and endocrine secretion, and water and ion flux in lung and intestinal epithelia. Its actions are effected through integral membrane receptors associated with a guanine nucleotide binding protein which activates adenylate cyclase. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2011]
Gene Symbol : VIPR2
Gene Name : Vasoactive intestinal peptide receptor 2
Chromosome : CHR 7: 159,144,956-159,028,174
Locus : 7q36.3
ATF7IP is a multifunctional nuclear protein that associates with heterochromatin. It can act as a transcriptional coactivator or corepressor depending upon its binding partners (summary by Liu et al., 2009 [PubMed 19106100]).[supplied by OMIM, Nov 2010]
Gene Symbol : ATF7IP
Gene Name : Activating transcription factor 7 interacting protein
Chromosome : CHR 12: 143,656,31-145,029,34
Locus : 12p13.1
