The protein encoded by this gene is a serine/threonine kinase and DNA damage sensor, activating cell cycle checkpoint signaling upon DNA stress. The encoded protein can phosphorylate and activate several proteins involved in the inhibition of DNA replication and mitosis, and can promote DNA repair, recombination, and apoptosis. This protein is also important for fragile site stability and centrosome duplication. Defects in this gene are a cause of Seckel syndrome 1. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2017]
Gene Symbol : ATR
Gene Name : ATR serine/threonine kinase
Chromosome : CHR 3: 142,578,825-142,449,234
Locus : 3q23
The protein encoded by this gene is an RNA lariat debranching enzyme that hydrolyzes 2'-5' prime branched phosphodiester bonds. The encoded protein specifically targets the bonds at the branch point of excised lariat intron RNA, converting them to linear molecules that are then degraded. This protein may also be involved in retroviral replication. [provided by RefSeq, Nov 2011]
Gene Symbol : DBR1
Gene Name : Debranching RNA lariats 1
Chromosome : CHR 3: 138,174,948-138,160,987
Locus : 3q22.3
